Nagpur metro phase-II progress hindered by pending land acquisition proposals

District collector Vipin Itankar convened a meeting to expedite the land acquisition process for the second phase of Nagpur's Metro project. This gathering was prompted by a backlog of pending land acquisition proposals associated with the Metro project. Itankar issued firm instructions to the revenue department, emphasising the need to swiftly resolve all outstanding proposals.
Furthermore, Itankar urged both the revenue department and the Metro authorities to collaborate on joint inspections and enhance their coordination to facilitate faster outcomes. Notably, he directed them to engage with the defence department to address land issues along Wardha Road.
The collector stressed the importance of proactive and timely planning for all remaining land acquisition cases. These pending proposals have been impeding the progress of the Metro project, which is slated for completion by 2024.
Among those in attendance at the meeting were deputy collector Madhuri Tikhe, responsible for land acquisition, and Puja Patil, in charge of the Pench project. Additionally, the meeting included key figures such as Kamthi Shyam Pandey, the sub-superintendent of land records, Ashish More, the assistant director of the town planning department, Surya Balekar, the town planning officer, and representatives from MahaMetro, namely R Anandkumar and Prakash Sakarde.
This gathering serves as a proactive response to address the challenges faced in land acquisition for the Metro project's second phase. The administration's commitment to streamlining the process and promoting collaboration between relevant authorities demonstrates a dedication to ensuring the timely completion of this vital infrastructure project, which will greatly benefit the city of Nagpur.
