The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is embarking on an ambitious plan to enhance the holistic development of the city by initiating six new town planning schemes in the Chandaka and Pahala areas. This proactive approach follows the successful completion of four similar schemes in the Tamando and Chandaka regions. Under these schemes, private plots were acquired from landowners and then meticulously developed in an organized manner to facilitate urban growth and infrastructure expansion.
The initial four preliminary town planning schemes covered an extensive range of villages, including Bijipur, Tamando, Sahajpur, Nargoda, Sijuput, Paikarapur, Nuagaon, and Shyamsundarpur. These projects collectively encompassed approximately 1,596 acres of land, providing a blueprint for the BDA's commitment to sustainable urban development.
The BDA's vision extends far beyond these achievements, as it intends to undertake a total of 45 town planning schemes across roughly 58 revenue villages, spanning an impressive area of 9,171 acres. This ambitious endeavour highlights the BDA's unwavering dedication to fostering comprehensive urban growth and infrastructure development.
Balwant Singh, the Vice-Chairman of the BDA, expressed the completion of the crucial phase involving the handover of final plots to landowners. To date, approximately 804 land parcels have been successfully handed over for possession, marking a significant milestone in the execution of these town planning schemes. With this phase accomplished, the focus now shifts to the implementation of vital infrastructure components such as roads, water supply, sewerage systems, and other critical elements, a responsibility that will be assumed by the relevant authorities.
