In a meeting held recently, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satish Jarkiholi left no room for ambiguity when he instructed officials of the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (Buda) to adhere rigorously to established regulations during the development of infrastructure. Minister Jarkiholi emphasized that this mandate applied to the construction of roads, gardens, underground drainage systems, and public spaces within layouts aimed at providing essential civil amenities.
The minister stated that the permissions should only be granted following a comprehensive inspection, underscoring the importance of a thorough evaluation process to ensure strict compliance with regulations.
During the meeting, significant decisions were made, including the approval of preparations for the 3rd revised master plan. This plan aims to incorporate 28 additional villages into Buda's jurisdiction, a decision recently sanctioned by the government. Furthermore, Minister Jarkiholi instructed officials to take prompt measures to include any inadvertently omitted villages within Buda's purview.
The minister also sought details about the procedures followed in previous Buda site auctions. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the possibility of increasing the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) amount for future e-auctions of Buda sites.
Minister Satish Jarkiholi directed officials to identify an appropriate location for the construction of a district stadium in the city, one that can accommodate an impressive seating capacity of 100,000. This directive came after Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, who was also present at the meeting, stressed the need for securing land for this ambitious project.
Belagavi (South) MLA Abhay Patil emphasized the importance of informing legislators in the relevant assembly constituency well in advance about projects in their respective segments. Meanwhile, Belagavi (North) MLA Asif Sait urged Buda to not only focus on developing new layouts but also pay attention to the maintenance of existing ones.
District Commissioner Nitesh Patil provided an update, stating that Rs 87 crore had been allocated for the development of a new layout in Kanabargi. The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi, Khanapur MLA Vitthal Halagekar, and City Corporation Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti, highlighting the significance of the discussions and directives issued during this crucial gathering.
