Godrej Interio secures interior and MEP contract for Cochin Airport’s Heritage Terminal

Godrej & Boyce, the parent company of Godrej Group, disclosed that Godrej Interio, its premier furniture solutions subsidiary, has secured the interior and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) contract for the transit accommodation at Cochin International Airport's Terminal 2. This venture by Cochin International Airport (CIAL) aims to refurbish this heritage building into a prominent landmark. The project spans across an area of 55,000 sq ft and involves a broad spectrum of work, including Civil Finishes, HVAC, ELV, Fire Protection, and BMS operations, among others.

As Kerala's busiest airport, accounting for 61.8% of the state's air passenger movement, Kochi Airport has had a long-standing relationship with Godrej Interio since 2015. This new undertaking marks the third collaboration between the two, focusing on improving Kochi International Airport's infrastructure. This project, set to complete within a span of nine months, will open the revamped transit accommodation space to the public in 2024.

Swapneel Nagarkar, Sr. Vice President & Business Head, Godrej Interio, underscored the importance of the infrastructure sector as a pillar of the Indian economy. He echoed the company’s commitment to the Make in India initiative and believes that the Heritage International Airport, operational in 2024, will enhance transit accommodation convenience and offer a unique experience to travellers.

Nagarkar also emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to superior execution standards, such as safety, quality, and timely completion in an operational airport setting. Godrej Interio projects currently account for 22% of the company's B2B segment turnover, expecting a 20% compound annual growth rate through FY25.

Godrej Interio has a track record of successful projects for CIAL since 2015, including cladding and finishing work for the new international terminal T3, civil works for the modification of the existing International Terminal (T1) to Domestic Terminal at CIAL, and additional Facelift Works for the Airside for Terminal Building T1.

Leveraging its talented team of architects, interior designers, and project managers, Godrej Interio collaborates closely with various airport and metro authorities to deliver unparalleled results. Their holistic services cover general contracting, design, execution, security, surveillance, and AV systems.
