As per the provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966, the state government has appointed CIDCO as the New Town Development Authority (NTDA) for the Jalna-Kharpudi New Town Project. This decision marks CIDCO's involvement in the development of the state's eleventh new town project.
In 2019, the state government had initially classified Jalna-Kharpudi as a notified area, but later reversed this designation. In response, CIDCO requested the government to assign it as a special planning authority to undertake the development of the Jalna-Kharpudi region. In compliance with CIDCO's request, the government has now designated CIDCO as the New Town Development Authority for Jalna-Kharpudi, granting it the necessary authority and responsibility for the project's planning and execution.
