ESR Group constructs Japan's first-ever 9-storey logistics facility

ESR Group Limited, the biggest real asset manager in the Asia-Pacific region that is focused on the New Economy, has achieved a new milestone by constructing the first-ever 9-storey logistics facility in Japan, called ESR Higashi Ogishima Distribution Centre.

The building is situated in a prime location in the Tokyo metropolitan area, only 10 km away from Haneda Airport and near the port, central Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kawasaki city. It offers tenants unparalleled convenience in transportation and connectivity to E-commerce, 3PL, cold storage, and other leading businesses.

The ESR Higashi Ogishima Distribution Centre has a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of approximately 349,000 square meters and covers a land area of 77,725 square meters. The facility has been constructed with a focus on sustainability, ensuring that it integrates well into the surrounding urban environment while minimizing its impact on the environment.

The building has received the highest certification for sustainable design with CASBEE S rank and BELS five stars, thanks to its meticulous design that incorporates various sustainability features such as a green wall, seismic base isolation structure, and solar self-consumption installation.

Furthermore, the facility has been designed with human-centric amenities in mind, such as a private dining area, laundry, and day-care centre, to provide a comprehensive range of services to its users.

Apart from the private dining area, laundry, and day care centre (BARNKLÜBB), ESR Higashi Ogishima Distribution Centre also includes a retail store and bowling alley, catering to the recreational needs of its users. The facility boasts a sky deck that offers breath-taking views and a large outdoor green space for leisure activities.

According to Stuart Gibson, Co-founder and Co-CEO of ESR Group, the company is immensely proud of the state-of-the-art logistics facility they have created, which sets a new benchmark for modern logistics infrastructure in Japan and the wider APAC region. The facility has been designed to maximize the available space, given its rare site with a much higher floor-area ratio than other designated areas for logistics facilities. As a result, it is the tallest distribution centre in Japan, offering a variety of space solutions to tenants. Beyond its size and scale, ESR Higashi Ogishima Distribution Centre is truly impressive.

The ESR Higashi Ogishima Distribution Centre not only offers a variety of space solutions to tenants, but also boasts impressive aesthetics and comprehensive, state-of-the-art amenities that will provide workers and visitors with an exceptional experience. Its strategic location also makes it an ideal hub for businesses to connect with a population of nearly 38 million people in the Greater Tokyo area.

As of December 31, 2022, ESR has a total Assets Under Management (AUM) of US$35.1 billion and approximately 4.7 million square meters of Gross Floor Area (GFA) in Japan.
