Bhopal civic body team inspect 'housing for all' project in Neelbad

The BMC commissioner, K V S Choudary, recently conducted an inspection of two residential projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Neelbad Kalkheda and Rahul Nagar Phase-2. During the inspection, he instructed the plot holders of Neelbad Kalkheda to start construction only after obtaining the necessary building permission.

The Neelbad Kalkheda project is designed to provide affordable housing to people from the Low Income Group (LIG) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The project is still under construction, with various basic facilities such as road, water, and electricity being developed.

Similarly, the Rahul Nagar Phase-2 site is also part of the 'housing for all' project and is being developed to provide affordable housing to people from the LIG and EWS categories. During the inspection, Choudary directed the BMC contractor to expedite the work at the site.

Choudary also stressed that no new encroachment or construction should be carried out on the vacant land. This is a crucial directive as unauthorized construction can lead to legal complications and may delay the completion of the project.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an ambitious scheme launched by the government of India to provide affordable housing to people from the LIG and EWS categories. The scheme aims to provide affordable housing to more than 20 million people by the year 2022.

Under the scheme, the government provides financial assistance to beneficiaries in the form of interest subsidy on home loans. The beneficiaries are also eligible to avail of other benefits such as subsidies on building materials and other construction-related costs.

The Neelbad Kalkheda and Rahul Nagar Phase-2 projects are a part of this scheme and are expected to provide housing to a large number of people from the LIG and EWS categories. The successful completion of these projects will go a long way in achieving the government's goal of providing affordable housing to all.

The construction of affordable housing projects requires careful planning and execution. The availability of basic facilities such as road, water, and electricity are crucial for the success of such projects. The BMC's focus on providing these basic facilities is a step in the right direction.

In addition to providing affordable housing, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana also aims to create employment opportunities in the construction sector. The scheme is expected to generate employment for millions of people, both directly and indirectly.

In conclusion, the BMC's focus on the development of affordable housing projects is a welcome move. The Neelbad Kalkheda and Rahul Nagar Phase-2 projects are important steps towards achieving the government's goal of providing affordable housing to all. The successful completion of these projects will not only provide housing to thousands of people but also create employment opportunities in the construction sector. The directive to start construction only after obtaining building permission and to avoid encroachment on vacant land is crucial for the timely completion of these projects.
