According to Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Minister Kamal Gupta of Haryana, a discount of 10 percent will be given to citizens for paying property taxes within ULB units until the end of July this financial year. He instructed the officers to conduct an outreach program aiming to inform the public about this initiative to ensure that the highest possible number of individuals can take advantage of the discount.

Last week, Kamal Gupta conducted a meeting with ULB officials in Sonipat to discuss various schemes such as Nagar Darshan Portal, Svamitva Yojana, Swachata, Property ID and others. He urged officers to embrace a mentality of serving the public and improving their quality of life by offering improved amenities.

Gupta emphasized the importance of concerned officer to ensure that all applications are addressed within the designated timeframe allotted for RTS, leaving no outstanding requests. He stated that the officer in question has a 15-day window to respond to the application, failing which the application will become visible on the portal on the 16th day. It is imperative for the officials to ensure that they promptly attend to these applications within a span of two weeks; otherwise, severe consequences will ensue.

According to ULB Minister, the state government has initiated numerous public welfare programs aimed at enhancing the living standards of general public, and the proceeds of these initiatives are being directly extended to them.

ULB Haryana property tax is an annual tax levied on properties across Haryana. The amount so accrued is utilized by the Urban Local Bodies to maintain the civic infrastructure such as roads, sanitation, parks, electricity, water, drainage, and payment of property tax in the urban areas of Haryana. The ULB has not just prolonged the deadline for the submission of property tax, but also for water or sewerage, rent and license fees for shops.

The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Department, Haryana was established on 1st April, 1982, to have better co-ordination and control on the working of municipalities in the State.

This move aims to encourage more people to pay their taxes promptly and benefit from the discount.
