Rajasthan cabinet meeting approves significant proposals impacting slums, water and land allotment

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot chaired a cabinet meeting in Jaipur where several important proposals were approved. These included the distribution of land ownership documents (known as pattas) in slum areas and the Rajasthan Laws Repeal Bill of 2023.

The cabinet also decided to regularize new slum settlements that emerged before December 2021, in addition to those surveyed in 2004 in urban areas of the state. After conducting a survey, basic facilities such as roads, drainage, electricity, and drinking water will be provided to the slums that are regularized.

The cabinet has made a significant ruling that will impact those residing in tall buildings. It has given the go-ahead to a policy proposal put forth by the Public Health Engineering Department that aims to provide water connections to high-rise buildings. The implementation of this policy is anticipated to promote water preservation, as well as the collection and recycling of rainwater and wastewater.

Furthermore, the cabinet has also approved a proposal to amend the Land Allotment Policy of 2015 for urban areas of the state. This amendment will make it easier to grant land at a reduced rate for the construction of student hostels catering to various communities.

The cabinet has given approval to the Rajasthan Laws Repeal Bill, 2023 which proposes the abolition of 133 outdated and unnecessary laws in the state. These laws consist of 33 original Acts, such as Appropriation Acts, and 100 amending Acts, which include changes made to Central Acts by the state.

Additionally, the cabinet made amendments to the notification on service rules for the reservation of exceptional sportspersons that was issued on November 21, 2019. The notification now encompasses the Rajasthan Madrasa Education Assistant Subordinate Service Rules, 2013; Rajasthan Specific Area Subordinate, Ministerial and Class IV Service (Recruitme Service Conditions) Rules, 2014; and Rajasthan School Assistant Subordinate Service Rules, 2015.

The recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur has made significant decisions that will positively impact various sectors in Rajasthan. The approval of the distribution of land ownership documents in slum areas, regularization of new slum settlements, and providing basic facilities to regularized slums will improve the living conditions of the residents.

The policy proposal to provide water connections to high-rise buildings is a progressive step towards water conservation and recycling. The amendment to the Land Allotment Policy of 2015 will facilitate the construction of student hostels, catering to various communities. The approval of the Rajasthan Laws Repeal Bill, 2023, to abolish outdated and unnecessary laws, is a much-needed initiative to streamline the legal system in the state.

Lastly, the amendments made to the notification on service rules for the reservation of exceptional sportspersons will provide more opportunities to eligible candidates in various fields. Overall, the decisions taken by the Rajasthan cabinet will pave the way for a more equitable and efficient administration in the state.
