CIDCO offers amnesty to defaulters of mass housing scheme under PMAY

CIDCO, the City and Industrial Development Corporation, has recently offered an amnesty scheme to the defaulters in its mass housing scheme. This scheme offers a discount in delayed payment charges (DPC) to those who have been unable to pay their instalments towards the booking of flats under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY). This scheme will be available until April 30, 2023.

The CIDCO had conducted computerised draws for the apartments under various mass housing schemes from 2018 to 2022. However, a few applicants have not paid a single instalment, while others have paid only a few instalments. Due to repeated requests from the defaulters for extension, the CIDCO board of directors has approved the amnesty scheme as a last chance for clearing dues.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that CIDCO had contributed greatly towards the achievement of housing for all under PMAY. He also added that due to the financial crisis in the past few years, many successful applicants of CIDCO Mass Housing Scheme had difficulties in making payments in instalments. Hence, the government had directed CIDCO to grant an extension to these applicants and give concessions in DPC on their outstanding instalments. Accordingly, CIDCO has introduced an amnesty scheme.

Sanjay Mukherjee, the Managing Director of CIDCO, has stated that the amnesty scheme is only applicable to those applicants who pay the outstanding instalments within the stipulated time. He also added that most of the defaulters belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG), so the corporation decided to reduce their financial burden by granting concession in the DPC.

The allotment letters have been issued to applicants who became eligible after the scrutiny of documents was completed. This step was taken by CIDCO to ensure transparency in the allotment process.

The mass housing scheme of CIDCO has been a great success in providing affordable housing to the common man. Through this scheme, CIDCO has been able to help many people achieve their dream of owning a home. The scheme has also been successful in contributing towards the government's goal of housing for all.

However, the financial crisis in the past few years has made it difficult for many successful applicants to pay their instalments on time. The amnesty scheme offered by CIDCO is a step towards providing relief to these defaulters. By offering a discount in delayed payment charges, the scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on EWS and LIG beneficiaries.

Overall, the amnesty scheme offered by CIDCO is a positive step towards helping defaulters in its mass housing scheme. It not only provides relief to those who are unable to pay their instalments but also promotes transparency in the allotment process. The success of this scheme can contribute towards achieving the goal of affordable housing for all.
