Uttar Pradesh RERA got 48,500 complaints in five years, 60% from Noida

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) has reported that it received over 48,500 complaints in the last five years, with nearly 60 percent of them coming from Gautam Buddh Nagar and 17 percent from Lucknow. The regulator was able to resolve 88.61 percent of the complaints received, totalling 42,980. Gautam Buddh Nagar, which includes Noida and Greater Noida, had the most complaints at 28,859, followed by Lucknow with 8,654, and Ghaziabad with 6,500 complaints.

In addition to Gautam Buddh Nagar, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad, other cities with a significant number of complaints include Varanasi with 860, Meerut with 807, Agra with 511, Kanpur Nagar with 264, Barabanki with 193, Mathura with 148, Unnao with 148, and Prayagraj with 143. The complaint disposal rate was the highest in Kanpur Nagar at 93.56 percent, while it was the lowest in Unnao at 77.02 percent.

The UPRERA was established in 2017 to regulate the real estate sector in Uttar Pradesh, India. Its goal is to ensure transparency, protect homebuyers' interests, and speed up dispute resolution between consumers and builders. The establishment of UPRERA has provided homebuyers with a forum to voice their grievances and seek redressal, leading to increased transparency and accountability in the real estate sector. The regulator has played an essential role in regulating the fast-growing sector, which has seen significant growth in recent years.

The high disposal rate of complaints in Kanpur Nagar reflects the regulator's commitment to ensuring speedy resolution of disputes, while the low rate in Unnao highlights the need for further improvement in the resolution process.
