Noida Authority reclaims 18 acres of land valued at INR 308 crore from land mafias in the region

In an effort to address the widespread issue of encroachment on government land and the unauthorised sale of plots, the Noida Authority has undertaken a significant crackdown. Officials disclosed that since March 1, they have reclaimed an impressive 71,885 square metres (equivalent to 17.7 acres) of land.
Authorities highlighted numerous cases of encroachment found in various sectors and villages within the city, especially along the Noida Expressway. These encroachments were arranged by land mafias aiming to deceive unsuspecting individuals by illegally selling plots on government-owned land.
Senior officials from the Noida Authority disclosed that a targeted anti-encroachment drive was launched in 14 locations, which included approximately 20-25 plots spanning across 11-12 different villages and sectors in Noida. The operation, carried out in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, resulted in the demolition of illegal constructions erected by the land mafias.
Furthermore, the Noida Authority has vowed to sustain its crackdown on land mafias in the forthcoming months, emphasising its commitment to upholding the law and preserving government-owned land.
CEO of the Noida Authority, Lokesh M, urged the public to remain vigilant and cautioned against falling prey to the machinations of real estate agents and land mafias. He emphasised the importance of verifying land records with the authority before making any investments in property.
The recent anti-encroachment drive targeted villages such as Sorkha Zahidabad, Salarpur, Asadullapur, Mohiyapur, Sadarpur, Mamura, Garhi Samastipur, Gulawali, and Salarpur Khadar. According to official data provided by the authority, the reclaimed land has an estimated market value of INR 308.8 crore.
The highest incidence of encroachment was reported in Sorkha Zahidabad and Salarpur villages, spanning Sectors 76, 78, 79, and 118. Here, a series of six drives were conducted, resulting in the recovery of land valued at INR 195 crore. Additionally, encroachments were cleared from 15,000 square metres of land in Salarpur Khadar village and Sector 78, amounting to a market value of INR 72 crore.
