In the forthcoming fiscal year, residents of Lucknow will witness the integration of their water and house taxes, following a resolution passed during an executive committee meeting of the municipal body. Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh explained that this decision aligns with the standards outlined by the Amrut 2.0 scheme of the Union Government, aimed at refining tax collection procedures. He added that every taxpayer in Lucknow would receive a distinct identification number for making payments towards both house and water taxes to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
As a member of the executive committee, Corporator Laeeq Agha praised the decision, highlighting how the initiative simplifies the tax collection process and encourages resident involvement in contributing to the city's development. Additionally, Singh announced that residential property owners willing to pay their house tax for the next fiscal year (2024?25) in advance by March 31st could enjoy an additional 5% discount on the tax, increasing the total rebate to 15% when combined with existing 10% discounts and special offers for early payment.
Furthermore, the executive committee decided to conduct an audit of sewer lines installed under the Amrut scheme and smart city projects before transferring them to the Jal Sansthan. Approval was granted for the acquisition of ten stainless steel tankers, each with a capacity of 6,000 liters and costing INR 45 lakh, to provide drinking water to areas facing water scarcity during the summer months. Additionally, the executive committee sanctioned the repair of damaged dams at Kathauta and Bharwara lakes, with an estimated cost of INR 41 lakh.
Meanwhile, the flyover spanning from the Maharana Pratap intersection to the Naka Hindola intersection has been named after Guru Gobind Singh, and the Gomtinagar railway station has been renamed in honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Additionally, the road connecting the KD Singh Babu Metro station to Moti Mahal Vatika has been renamed Babu KD Singh Marg, while Nazarbagh Chhoti Park has been dedicated to the memory of freedom fighter Sher Ali Afridi. Moreover, the park located in front of the speed post office in the Daliganj Niralanagar ward will be named after Ashok Singhal, and a statue of Sant Gadge will be erected at Sant Gadge Reservoir Park in Ashiana.
In conclusion, the decisions made by the executive committee signify a commitment to enhancing efficiency in tax collection and fostering community engagement for the betterment of Lucknow's development, while also honoring the city?s rich heritage through infrastructure dedications.
