Panvel Municipality achieves record property tax collection of over INR 283 crore

In a remarkable feat, the property tax recovery unit of the Panvel city municipal corporation achieved a milestone earlier this month by collecting over INR 2.25 crore, marking the highest amount collected in a single day.
This accomplishment adds to the municipality's successful fiscal year, during which it has collected a substantial sum of INR 283 crore in property taxes. As of March 2nd week, the total collection has reached an impressive INR 569 crore. With only two weeks remaining in the financial year, authorities anticipate a further increase in collections.
Among the notable contributors to this significant revenue stream is Dharti Constructions-Kharghar, which has dutifully paid approximately INR 1.29 crore in property taxes.
The municipal corporation's proactive measures in tax recovery include issuing over 400 notices for pre-seizure of properties. Encouragingly, property owners have responded positively to these notices. However, as per regulations, failure to settle dues within seven days of receiving a pre-seizure notice can lead to the issuance of warrants.
To streamline the tax collection process, the Panvel civic body has established nine dedicated recovery units. These units employ both manual and online payment methods to facilitate seamless transactions.
Covering an area with 3.5 lakh property owners, the municipal corporation has demonstrated its commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient governance. Notably, recent efforts have targeted industrial units, with 99 in Taloja MIDC and two in Jawahar Industrial Estate-Kamothe receiving pre-seizure notices.
The concerted efforts of the Panvel city municipal corporation underscore its determination to uphold financial integrity and ensure sustainable development within the region.
