In Nashik, the state government has allocated INR 145 crore from the district planning committee (DPC) to develop infrastructure in rural towns such as Sinnar, Manmad, Bhagur, Ojhar, Igatpuri, and others. This allocation aims to address pressing needs and promote growth in these areas. Additionally, for the fiscal year 2024-25, the state government has approved a comprehensive plan amounting to INR 813 crore for the overall development of the district.
A DPC official revealed that municipal councils like Manmad, Yeola, Nandgaon, Satana, Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, Chandwad, Sinnar, and nagar panchayats including Dindori, Kalwan, Niphad, Devla, Peth, Surgana, along with Bhagur and Ozhar, stand to benefit from this special allocation. These funds are expected to facilitate various developmental projects and initiatives in these regions.
The state government's allocation of INR 145 crore under a special additional outlay for urban areas in the district, covering all 15 councils and nagar panchayats, is a significant step towards promoting urban development, stated Nashik DPO Kiran Joshi. The allocation of funds will be based on the population ratio of the respective bodies, as per the 2011 census data, as mandated by government directives.
Another official from the administration added that while the government has set a limit on the amount of funds to be spent on these projects, only necessary works essential for the development of these areas will be permitted. This ensures that the allocated funds are utilised efficiently and effectively to address critical infrastructure needs.
According to a chief officer of one of the councils, local self-governing bodies often face budget constraints, making it challenging to manage regular operations and undertake developmental projects. The provision of additional funds from the state government will greatly aid in expediting the development process and addressing the longstanding needs of these councils.
In conclusion, the allocation of funds by the state government from the district planning committee signifies a concerted effort to promote balanced development and upliftment across rural and urban areas in Nashik. These funds will play a crucial role in addressing infrastructure gaps, improving basic amenities, and fostering overall growth and prosperity in the region. By prioritising the allocation of resources to key developmental projects, the government is demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Nashik and promoting sustainable development across the district.
