With the announcement of a 60-year sub-licensing agreement between GMR Goa International Airport Limited and IHCL subsidiary Roots Corporation, the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has started a major expansion adventure. This deal sets the stage for the construction of a large 300-room Ginger hotel, which is planned to open in 2027 at the new Manohar International Airport in Goa.
The CEO and MD of IHCL, Puneet Chhatwal, stressed that this tactical decision fits in perfectly with the company's overall expansion plan, which is to build a strong presence in important transit hubs. Through leveraging the increasing demand originating from these strategic areas, IHCL aims to strengthen its position in the hospitality sector.
Chhatwal went into further detail about the significance of this achievement, emphasizing that, after similarly successful endeavors in Mumbai and Bengaluru, the upcoming Ginger hotel at Manohar International Airport would represent the third large-format facility of its kind at an international airport.
