MahaRERA's website witnesses seven-fold increase in traffic, set to launch new portal

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority’s (MahaRERA) website witnessed a seven-fold jump in traffic in the last six months, showcasing better access to the useful and reliable information available on the website. The current website was created five years ago, in May 2017, at the time of MahaRERA’s inception.

The MahaRERA is set to launch its new portal, named MahaRERA-CRITI (Complaint and Regulatory Integrated Technology Implementation), this month. The new website aims to streamline the home purchasing process for home buyers and developers and to increase transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the real estate sector.

According to the MahaRERA press release, since MahaRERA’s inception in May 2017, 1,28,39,561 people had visited the website. In August 2023, certain changes were made to the website, and since then the number of visitors has increased to 40,73,183, which is one-third of the total visitors since MahaRERA’s launch. It further elaborated by stating that currently about 33,713 people daily and just over 1,400 per hour visit MahaRERA’s website. Compared to this, six months ago, the website had only 5,196 visitors daily and about 216 every hour.

In August, MahaRERA had launched several more customer-centric features on the website. The features were not limited to filing of complaints but also all the basic information with regards to housing projects such as approvals, construction plan, drawings, amenities, project’s status have been made available.

The significant jump in users is a testament to the fact that the improved design helped the homebuyers, promoters and agents to access their desired information. With the modifications made, homebuyers are becoming increasingly empowered with easy access to relevant, useful and reliable information. With new modifications being made to the website now, MahaRERA anticipates this traffic to increase further.

MahaRERA initiated the new website upgrade to adapt to the changing property market scenario and provide a more user-friendly experience with additional features that will be beneficial for homebuyers and developers. One of the features include ease in lodging complaints by flat purchasers as well as access to information and health summaries of ongoing projects under a new and crucial section ‘project health summary’.

Developers will also find it smoother and seamless to submit statutory information required under Forms 1, 2, and 3, such as quarterly progress reports, and Form 5 annually, as these documents run into several pages.

Many newer features are now available on the website, which will act as a reference point for both homebuyers and project promoters alike. Even the real estate agents are finding the website to be immensely useful.

MahaRERA Chairman, Mr. Ajoy Mehta, said that “A user expects that the website of any organisation is always kept updated, a source of authoritative and reliable information. Although MahaRERA’s website in its current avatar meets this expectation, we believe that it is an ongoing process to provide various important information and relevant updates periodically. Therefore, MahaRERA is in the final stages of making the website more user-centric.”

Through all its efforts, MahaRERA’s aim is to have maximum transparency on all matters in the real estate sector, which will eventually make the sector to be more credible and instill trust among the customers on their investments to be safe and protected.
