In a proactive move to address safety concerns, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken decisive action by issuing notices to 426 commercial establishments for violating safety norms during the ongoing fire safety survey. The civic body, as part of its comprehensive survey, has scrutinized a total of 43,925 commercial properties to date, revealing a significant number of businesses falling short in adhering to essential safety protocols.
Among the identified establishments, 2,423 commercial entities have been flagged for safety violations, with a particular focus on 718 industrial units situated in the Talawade red zone. Recognizing the potential risks and hazards posed by these safety lapses, authorities are prioritizing immediate intervention to avert any major fire mishaps. Notices will be promptly delivered to all the identified businesses, emphasizing the need for urgent corrective measures.
Pradeep Jambhale Patil, the additional municipal commissioner, stressed the importance of swift action to ensure the safety of both occupants and properties. "Immediate action is essential to ensuring the safety of both occupants and properties. We urge cooperation from the owners and occupants of these establishments," Patil conveyed.
Deputy Commissioner Mano Lonkar echoed these sentiments, highlighting recent fire incidents and pointing out violations of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act. Lonkar emphasized the necessity of full cooperation from owners and occupants of the identified commercial establishments to address the safety concerns promptly.
