Nashik, a city celebrated for its lush gardens, is embarking on a significant beautification project to revitalize its traffic islands and road dividers. The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has earmarked INR 2.5 crore for this initiative under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), aiming to enhance these key urban elements. The project focuses on areas between New Nashik and Nashik East, and is pending approval from the Standing Committee.
Historically, Nashik has been admired for its beautiful landscapes. However, in recent times, many of its traffic islands and dividers have deteriorated. While some have benefited from private developments nearby, others remain neglected with dead trees and overgrown foliage degrading their beauty. In response, the Garden Department of NMC is planning a collaborative effort with contractors to rejuvenate and beautify these sites.
The financial plan for this beautification includes an allocation of INR 89 lakh for East Nashik and INR 1.71 crore for New Nashik. Having secured the General Assembly's nod, the proposal is now awaiting the approval from the Standing Committee. Once approved, the appointed contractor will be responsible for the upkeep of these sites over a three-year period. The initiative is part of the municipality's broader commitment to boosting Nashik's aesthetic value.
