DTCP destroys illegal colonies across 12 acres in Gurugram

The DTCP’s enforcement team has destroyed five unauthorized colonies on 12 acres of valuable agricultural land in Gurugram. The team dismantled illegal constructions, roads, and boundary walls during the demolition operation. In addition, the officials cautioned residents not to invest in such settlements without first verifying their status with the department.

The Gaushala Colony, a revenue estate located in Farruknagar village in Gurgaon, had two unapproved colonies covering an area of four acres. These colonies were demolished, including about 10 unauthorized structures, a 700-meter road network, and a 150-meter boundary wall. 

According to reports captured by ET Realty, two unauthorised colonies in Gaushala, specifically one measuring four acres in the revenue estate of village Farruknagar in Gurgaon and another two acres of unauthorised colony in the revenue estate of Farruknagar in Urban Area, were demolished. The first colony had around 10 unauthorised structures with a 700-metre road network and 150 metre boundary walls, while the second had nine structures and a boundary wall with a road network.

Additionally, two more unauthorised colonies near Savera College, covering 6.5 acres with 17 structures and road network, were demolished.  The officials present during the demolition advised the gathered people not to invest their hard-earned money in such unauthorised colonies. Officials have cautions residents, stating that anyone interested in buying land should make inquiries and contact the authorities beforehand.

The complaint lodged with the DTCP stated that the land is located within the urban area boundary of Gurgaon. The complaint cited relevant sections of the Act no. 8 of 1975, which require landowners to obtain a license from the competent authority before developing a colony within an urban area. Section 7(1) of the Act prohibits any division or intention to divide land for creating a colony, while Section 7(ii) prohibits construction in a colony that does not have a license under Section 3 of the Act of 1975. The complaint explicitly mentions these sections.
