Delhi LG approves notification for 147-acre industrial development in Rani Khera

In a significant development for industrial expansion in the capital city, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has granted approval for the notification of 147 acres of land in the Rani Khera locality of northwest Delhi. This move aims to transform the designated area into a thriving industrial hub.

Originally transferred to the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) back in 2007, the earmarked land in Rani Khera faced obstacles in its development plans.

The DSIIDC had envisioned the creation of a multi-level manufacturing hub. However, progress came to a halt in 2017 when the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a stay on the project on December 14.

The breakthrough came on July 31, 2023, when the Supreme Court lifted the NGT's order, clearing the path for the project to resume. Subsequently, on January 3, 2024, the Industries department of the Delhi government sought the approval of Lieutenant Governor Saxena to proceed with the notification of Rani Khera as an industrial area.

This approval is granted under the provisions of Sub-section (k) of Section 2 of the Delhi Industrial Development Operation and Maintenance (DIDOM) Act, 2010, in alignment with the Master Plan of Delhi 2021. With legal hurdles now behind, the Lieutenant Governor's nod signifies a crucial step towards realizing the industrial potential of the 147 acres of land in Rani Khera.

It is worth noting that this decision follows similar approvals granted by Lieutenant Governor Saxena in recent months. In September 2023, he approved the specification of 55.20 acres of land in the Baprola Industrial area, and in May 2023, he gave the green light for the notification of 920 acres of land in the Kanihawala Industrial area. These collective decisions underscore a concerted effort to foster industrial growth and development in various parts of Delhi.
