Mahindra World City Developers Limited (MWCDL) has inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for a substantial investment exceeding Rs 1,000 crores over the next five years. This ambitious initiative is anticipated to bring in economic growth and employment opportunities, benefiting over 2,000 individuals within the state.
The announcement coincides with the launch of the second phase of "Origins by Mahindra'' at Eliambedu village in Chennai. This project is set to be the nucleus of Mahindra's investments in the state. Having already established its presence with a successful first phase spanning 307 acres, Origins by Mahindra has emerged as a preferred industrial hub, attracting renowned Japanese and Taiwanese enterprises.
Notable companies such as Yanmar Engine Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric, and OMRON Healthcare have chosen Origins by Mahindra as their preferred location. The industrial cluster, situated along NH16 and in close proximity to the Chennai - Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Chennai - Vizag Industrial Corridor (CVIC), enjoys exceptional connectivity and positions itself strategically for business success.
A distinguishing feature of Origins by Mahindra in Chennai is its recognition as the first industrial cluster in Tamil Nadu to be awarded the prestigious IGBC Green Cities' 'Platinum' rating. This underscores Mahindra's commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious industrial development, aligning seamlessly with the Indian Government's 'Make in India' program.
