DTCP overturns the decision to withdraw MRG Skyline's licence

The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has reversed a decision it made to revoke the project licence for an affordable housing development in Sector 106. After revoking MRG Skyline's licence in November 2022, DTCP last week wrote to the police requesting a FIR against the developer for breaking regulations. Department representatives claim that once the developer KN Infracon Pvt Limited paid the required money, the cancellation order was lifted.

MRG Skyline was given permission to build a colony of affordable housing on 10 acres in 2020. A complaint made by Manipura Commercial Private Ltd resulted to the licence being later withdrawn in November 2022. In order to convert the group housing colony licence, it received in 2010 into an affordable housing colony, KN Infracon submitted an application on June 15, 2020. However, KN Infracon had sold the land to Truetrust Analytics Pvt Ltd (now MRG Castle Realty LLP) on October 23, 2019, therefore at that point it was no longer the owner. Following consideration of the review application submitted by KN Infracon and MRG Castle, the licence cancellation order was withdrawn according to a new ruling issued by DTCP on February 24.

The order said that any actions taken by the department based on its earlier decision were recalled since the developer has paid the necessary compounded costs. DTCP revoked the project licence due to two complaints. As the DTCP was kept in the dark regarding who owned the project land, there were inconsistencies in the conversion of KN Infracon's group housing licence into an affordable housing scheme. The developer was also accused of selling its licenced property to another developer as agricultural land causing the state exchequer suffering a loss of revenue.
