The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, recently met with a group of Noida homebuyers who had been facing various issues related to their properties. The meeting was held at the CM's official residence in Lucknow, where he listened to the grievances of the homebuyers and assured them of a complete solution to their problems.
The homebuyers had been facing a range of issues, including delayed possession, lack of basic amenities, and discrepancies in the construction of their properties. Some of them had been waiting for possession of their homes for several years and were facing financial difficulties due to having to pay rent and EMI simultaneously.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister took note of the issues raised by the homebuyers and promised to take swift action to resolve them. He directed the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take strict action against those responsible for the delays and discrepancies.
The Chief Minister also assured the homebuyers that their properties would be completed on time and handed over to them as soon as possible. He emphasized the importance of providing basic amenities to the residents of the properties, and directed the officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are in place.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister assured the homebuyers that the government would take all necessary steps to protect their interests and ensure that they are not exploited by unscrupulous builders. He also directed the officials to take strict action against any builders who violate the rules and regulations governing the real estate sector.
The Chief Minister's meeting with the Noida homebuyers comes at a time when the real estate sector in Uttar Pradesh is facing several challenges. The sector has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has led to a slowdown in construction activity and a decrease in demand for properties.
The sector has also been grappling with several other issues, such as delays in obtaining necessary clearances and approvals, high cost of construction materials, and a shortage of skilled labour. These issues have led to a slowdown in the completion of projects and a rise in complaints from homebuyers.
The government of Uttar Pradesh has taken several steps to address these issues and revive the real estate sector. The state government has launched several schemes to promote affordable housing and provide financial assistance to homebuyers. It has also streamlined the process of obtaining clearances and approvals for construction projects.
The government has also taken steps to address the issue of delayed possession of properties. It has set up a Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to monitor the activities of builders and ensure that they complete their projects on time. The authority also acts as a forum for homebuyers to raise their grievances and seek redressal.
Representatives of the Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) informed the chief minister of the issues, particularly the delay in registration, that thousands of homebuyers in the area were experiencing during the 45-minute meeting. Since last winter, a significant number of homebuyers in Greater Noida (West) have taken to holding rallies and demonstrations on the weekends to draw attention to the eminent delays in registration of their homes.
The government's focus on protecting the interests of homebuyers and taking strict action against unscrupulous builders is also a welcome move, as it will help build trust and confidence in the sector. It remains to be seen how effectively the government's measures will be implemented and how soon the issues faced by the real estate sector will be resolved.
