Sony Pictures official alleges Rs 1.33 crore fraud by Ahuja Developers

In a recent development, the Santacruz police in Mumbai have filed a fresh case of cheating against Ahuja Developers, their directors, and their Chinese partners. The accused individuals, including Jagdish Ahuja, Gautam Ahuja, Chandras Kotian, Ashok Gacheria, and Chinese company officials from Jia Vei, Liyank Shaung, Ya Wang, Snehanjali SB Developers, and Hive Carbon Zero Developers Private Limited, are alleged to have cheated a flat buyer of Rs 1.33 crore.

The complaint was lodged by Prashant Bhat, a senior official at Sony Pictures, who claimed that in 2014, his father, Mahendra Bhat, had booked a flat in an upcoming project named "02" at Sion-Chunabhatti by Snehanjali and SB Developers. According to the sale agreement, Mahendra Bhat was supposed to receive a flat on the 11th floor, and the project was to be completed by 2017 as per MahaRERA regulations. However, even by 2019, the project had not been completed.

Mahendra Bhat, the original buyer, passed away in 2018, and the builder informed Prashant that they were allotting a different flat on the same floor, demanding an additional payment of Rs 4.05 lakh. The situation took a turn when the Chinese company took control of the project, and after Mahendra Bhat's demise, his son Prashant discovered that the flat his father had booked had already been sold to Ram Gupta.

This case comes on the heels of a previous incident in January, where Jagdish Ahuja was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police in connection with a Rs 27-crore cheating case. In that instance, flat buyers alleged that the Ahujas failed to deliver the promised flat. The latest accusations add another layer to the legal troubles faced by Ahuja Developers and their associates. The police are actively investigating the matter to ensure justice for the affected parties.
