Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate Zuari Bridge section and unveil key projects in Goa

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to inaugurate the second four-lane section of the Zuari bridge in Goa this week. Simultaneously, he will lay the foundation stone for two significant projects – twin towers atop the new bridge and an elevated six-lane highway corridor at Porvorim, collectively valued at Rs 911 crore. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, during a State-level event on Goa Liberation Day, shared that the 14km approach road and the new Zuari bridge section, costing Rs 2,500 crore, will open to the public on the same day.
Additionally, the foundation stone will be laid for a Rs 270 crore revolving restaurant on the Zuari tower and a six-lane elevated corridor (flyover) on NH-66 (formerly National Highway 17) between Guirim and Porvorim, amounting to Rs 641 crore.
Sawant expressed concern over the unresolved Kul-Mundkar cases, lingering 62 years post-Goa Liberation. To expedite the process, the State government is streamlining efforts to ensure Kul-Mundkars promptly receive their ownership rights.
With an eye on environmental sustainability, Sawant highlighted the government's commitment to achieving a zero carbon emission tag before 2050. Initial steps include infrastructure development to support electric vehicles, emphasizing the priority of establishing electric charging stations at numerous locations.
Goa's economic growth is evident in the statistics presented by Sawant. The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has witnessed a remarkable 33% increase over the last two decades. Simultaneously, per capita income in the state has risen by 30% during the same period.
Sawant acknowledged the positive trajectory post-liberation, emphasizing the need for continued progress. To facilitate this, the government initiated the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, an initiative reaching various parts of the state. Sawant urged sarpanchs and panchayat members to actively participate and benefit from this development endeavour.
In summary, Goa anticipates significant infrastructural development with the inauguration of the Zuari bridge's second section and the commencement of two major projects, underscoring the state's commitment to sustainable growth and enhanced connectivity. The Chief Minister's emphasis on resolving long-standing issues and promoting environmental consciousness further outlines the government's multifaceted approach to comprehensive development.
