KDA allocates Rs 200 crore for new city development in Kanpur

Earlier this month, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) team held a meeting with private tenants, notifying them about KDA’s plan to acquire their land for the development of the New Kanpur City township. KDA officials requested tenants to provide a consent affidavit for selling their land to facilitate the New Kanpur City scheme. The tehsildar (Sadar) clarified that, in accordance with the proposed scheme, KDA would purchase the land at the prevailing Arrent DM circle rate, and the tenants would receive the corresponding amount for their land.
Payment will be transferred directly to the farmers’ accounts through RTGS, as mentioned by the spokesperson. According to the legal and public relations representatives of KDA, SB Rai, a majority of farmers from Sambhapur, Gangapur Chakbandi, Singhpur Kachar, and Hindupur villages, who attended the meeting, expressed their willingness to provide their land for the development of New Kanpur City.
To obtain consent affidavits from farmers, KDA has established an office at KDA Greens, Mainawati Marg. The consent affidavits from private farmers will be collected on December 15. KDA has instructed its area administrators and lekhpals to gather the affidavits at the camp office.
Rai stated that the regional accountant has been directed to ascertain the tenant’s portion of land, determine the corresponding payment, and furnish comprehensive details to the KDA.
It's worth noting that KDA has put forward the prominent ‘New Kanpur City’ initiative, covering an expanse exceeding 150 hectares between Mainawati Marg and Kalyanpur-Bithoor Road.
Rai mentioned that the state government has recently issued directives to disburse a total sum of Rs 200 crore to the authority. This funding is allocated for the effective implementation and development of new cities as part of the Chief Minister Urban Expansion/New Cities Promotion Scheme.
