Gujarat is a state in western India that has implemented several town planning proposals in recent years to manage urbanization and support sustainable development. Some of the key town planning proposals in Gujarat include:

  1. Transit-Oriented Development (TOD): This is a planning approach that focuses on creating compact, mixed-use developments around public transportation hubs to promote walking, cycling, and the use of public transport. Gujarat has implemented TOD projects in several cities, including Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara, to encourage sustainable urban growth.
  2. Slum Redevelopment: Gujarat has initiated several slum redevelopment schemes to provide better housing and basic amenities to slum dwellers. The schemes involve upgrading existing slums and providing affordable housing to residents.
  3. Special Investment Regions (SIRs): These are designated areas for industrial and economic development with world-class infrastructure and facilities. Gujarat has implemented several SIRs, such as the Dholera SIR, to attract investment and promote industrial growth.
  4. Smart Cities Mission: Gujarat has several cities that are part of the Indian government's Smart Cities Mission, which aims to promote sustainable and inclusive urban development through technology and innovation. These cities, such as Ahmedabad and Surat, have implemented various initiatives to improve urban services and quality of life for residents.
  5. Riverfront Development: Gujarat has implemented several riverfront development projects, such as the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project in Ahmedabad, to create public spaces and amenities along the banks of rivers and promote sustainable tourism.

Gujarat has implemented several schemes and initiatives to promote affordable housing, such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Gujarat Affordable Housing Policy. These schemes provide financial assistance and incentives to developers and homebuyers to create and purchase affordable housing units. The town planning proposals implemented in Gujarat have had a positive impact on housing in the state by providing better housing options and promoting sustainable urban development. Top of Form
