The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has concluded an extensive drone survey encompassing 619 slums, serving as a preliminary measure for their subsequent rehabilitation. This development was disclosed during a recent review meeting with Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta. Emphasizing the urgency of addressing the challenges faced by residents in colonies such as Indira Colony, Rajiv Colony, and Kharak Mangoli, Gupta underscored the need for expeditious action.
In response, Huda Chief Administrator T. L. Satyaprakash provided assurances that the rehabilitation efforts would be promptly executed. Notably, slums granted relief by the Supreme Court would be accorded priority in the implementation of the rehabilitation scheme. Apart from the slum rehabilitation initiative, the meeting also entailed an evaluation of the progress concerning a multi-feature park planned across 18 acres in Sector 24. The completion target for this park is set for June of the upcoming year. Gupta conveyed that this park's establishment would bring international recognition to Panchkula.
Detailing the unique features, Gupta highlighted the inclusion of a one-of-a-kind maze featuring a special tower and a meditation garden inspired by Japanese art. Additionally, the park is designed to incorporate various amenities, including a suspense garden, a modern skating rink, an internationally standardized cycle track, a suspense fountain, a solar tree-based charging station, a hut-like vertical garden, and parks inspired by the Garden of the Five Senses, the Chime Bell Tree, and the Sense of Sound.
Furthermore, the project envisions the incorporation of modern facilities, such as an open theatre. To ensure seamless coordination among different departments contributing to the park's development, the responsibility has been entrusted to Superintendent Engineer A.K. Rana from the Horticulture Wing. Officials involved in the project affirmed their commitment to delivering the multi-feature park by June 2024, further solidifying its status as a significant addition to Panchkula's landscape. The comprehensive approach, integrating diverse attractions and modern amenities, aims to create a park that not only meets international standards but also serves as a cultural and recreational hub for the local community.
In conclusion, the extensive drone survey by the Haryana Urban Development Authority signifies a crucial step towards addressing the challenges faced by slum residents. With the assurance of swift rehabilitation efforts and prioritization based on Supreme Court relief, this initiative reflects a commitment to improving living conditions in slum areas.
