The Uttar Pradesh State Government has allocated Rs 200 crores for the highly anticipated development of New Kanpur City and the Bingawan Scheme. Following the release of funds, officials from the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) promptly held a meeting to formalize and expedite the plan's implementation.
Approximately a year ago, KDA submitted a proposal amounting to Rs 726 crores to the government. The objective was to acquire land from farmers, facilitating the creation of the New Kanpur City Scheme and Bingawan Residential Scheme near the Pandu river. This targeted development spanned four villages—Singhpur, Hindupur, Gangpur Chakbada—positioned between Mainawati Marg and Kalyanpur-Singhpur Road. Regrettably, the initial proposal faced rejection from the government.
However, KDA revisited the proposal and introduced modifications. Following this, on December 7, the government granted approval for the plan's execution. This nod was particularly tied to the Chief Minister’s Urban Expansion/New Cities Incentive Scheme, emphasizing comprehensive and effective city development. The government concurrently disbursed the earmarked sum of Rs 200 crores to the Development Authority, allocating funds for both the New Kanpur City and Bingawan schemes.
KDA Secretary Shatrohan Vaishya elaborated on the breakdown of the released Rs 200 crores. A significant portion, Rs 150 crores, is earmarked for acquiring land from farmers for the New Kanpur City Scheme. The dimensions of this scheme cover 153 hectares, with 54 hectares falling under KDA's ownership.
The remaining Rs 50 crores will be channelled towards the development of the Bingawan scheme. Land registration will promptly proceed based on the consent received from participating farmers. The subsequent phase involves the allocation of plots after the completion of necessary development work.

The coordinated efforts of KDA, propelled by the newly allocated funds, stand to reshape the cityscape, promising both residential and commercial advancements in the designated areas.
