The Maharashtra settlement commissioner's office has concluded a comprehensive drone survey covering 12,084 villages. A senior official reported that details of residential land parcels, totalling 18.66 lakh property cards, have been successfully uploaded on the official website of the revenue department. This ambitious drone survey, initiated three years ago, has effectively covered nearly 37,000 villages with around 19,000 villages are yet to be covered. The remaining 50 lakh property cards are slated for completion by the year 2025.
The primary objective of this extensive survey is to facilitate the precise demarcation of boundaries for rural, private, government, and semi-government properties. Additionally, it encompasses the mapping of roads and canals.
Traditionally, mapping procedures relied on manual processes, but the integration of drone technology has revolutionized the entire surveying landscape. The official from the settlement commissioner's office emphasized the transformative impact of drone technology, signalling a departure from conventional mapping methods.
The property cards resulting from this survey have been made available to the public on the state government's Maha Bhumi Abhilekh website. Citizens can access and download these cards by remitting specified charges. Beyond merely listing property names and details, these cards contain essential information related to sale deeds, enhancing their utility for citizens navigating property-related matters.
This monumental drone survey marks a significant milestone in Maharashtra's land administration and underscores a commitment to leveraging technology for accurate and transparent mapping processes. As the survey nears its completion goal by 2025, it not only enhances accessibility to property information for citizens but also sets a precedent for modern, technology-driven land administration practices in the region.
