NHSRCL secures prime space at Sabarmati for high-speed rail terminal

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL), overseeing India's inaugural bullet train initiative, is set to lease approximately 580,000 sq ft at the Sabarmati Multi-Modal Transit Hub. This property is slated for a 35-year lease, extendable by an additional 35 years. The project is in the final stages of the request for proposal process.
The land would have two towers covering a combined 3.6 hectares, with a super-built-up area of 579,980 sq ft. A notable feature is the 436,638 sq ft automated parking facility, designed to accommodate 1,300 vehicles.
Given its pivotal role as the terminal station for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, Sabarmati HSR is earmarked for transformation into a comprehensive multimodal transport hub - seamlessly integrating the HSR line with Indian Railways, a metro station, and a bus rapid transit system, all conveniently accessible by foot
The multimodal integration plan for Sabarmati HSR station was meticulously crafted in collaboration with stakeholders, introducing crucial interventions. These include road widening initiatives, the redesigning of road geometry and junctions, and the implementation of tabletop pedestrian crossings. These measures collectively enhance the overall connectivity and accessibility of the transit hub, catering to the diverse needs of commuters and facilitating smooth transitions between different modes of transportation.
The leasing initiative signifies the NHSRCL's strategic approach to optimizing the utilization of the Sabarmati facility, aligning it with commercial, retail, and office spaces. By integrating state-of-the-art amenities, such as automated parking, the project addresses the growing demand for modern infrastructure solutions. The emphasis on an extensive period of leasing, spanning up to 70 years, underscores a commitment to long-term partnerships and sustained development.
In summary, the NHSRCL's venture into leasing space at the Sabarmati Multi-Modal Transit Hub reflects a comprehensive strategy to enhance regional connectivity, foster multimodal transportation, and catalyse economic development in the region. The ambitious project aligns with the broader vision of establishing advanced, efficient, and integrated transportation systems across India.
