Greater Noida's Aqua Line Metro to add eight new stations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) revises its project report for a 11.56-km-long corridor on the Aqua Line extension project in Greater Noida. This revision aims to enhance connectivity and improve the metro network's efficiency in the region by adding new metro stations along the line.
Initially, the project intended to link Greater Noida directly with the Blue and Magenta lines at the Botanical Garden station. However, the revised plan introduces additional stations near essential locations such as Sector 96, Sectors 44, 105, and 93, primarily residential sectors along the Noida Expressway, aiming to cater to the booming housing hub in the area.
This revision also increases the number of stations from the original five to eight, strategically placed to optimize connectivity and ridership. The added stations, including those near Sector 96 (Noida Authority office), Sector 97, Sector 108 (near the Police Commissioner's office), and Sector 91 (Panchsheel Balak Inter College), aim to bridge crucial gaps in connectivity and cater to the evolving needs of the local populace.
The proposed extension is set to provide commuters with a more seamless and efficient travel experience, significantly reducing travel time between Greater Noida, Delhi, and IGI Airport Terminal 1. With an interchange at Botanical Garden for the Magenta Line, passengers will be able to traverse this route with only one train change, thereby streamlining their journey.
Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) spokesperson Nisha Wadhwan highlighted that the DMRC, entrusted with preparing the revised project report, is set to submit it for approval from Noida and Greater Noida authorities before seeking approval from the Centre. Once approved, the project is estimated to take approximately three years for completion, with a projected cost of around Rs 2,254 crore.
In summary, the Aqua Line extension project in Greater Noida is poised for a transformative change with the introduction of additional stations and an enhanced corridor plan. The project's shift from the initial five stations to the revised eight stations is a result of collaborative efforts between the NMRC, Noida Authority, and DMRC. This move is aimed at strengthening the ridership and overall viability of the corridor, aligning it more effectively with the region's evolving transportation needs.
