Haryana Budget allocates 5,893cr towards the PMAY Scheme

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has put forth several important proposals in the budget estimates, including the allocation of 100,000 homes to families identified as below the poverty line through the Parivar Pehchaan Patra (PPP) program, the continuation of the amnesty scheme for builders, and the introduction of a land pooling system through the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

It is noteworthy that the housing for the poor will be covered under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY), and the government aims to complete the allocation by the next fiscal year. To this end, the budget has allocated Rs. 5,893 crore for the housing projects. The new policy includes an extra subsidy of Rs 1.5 lakh and access to land for housing. A pilot program will be initiated in April 2023, based on survey data.

Khattar suggested that permission may be granted to legalize 27 out of the 190 illegal colonies that have been identified in the state. He expressed his hope that the urban local bodies department and all municipalities will work together to ensure that the remaining eligible colonies are legalized in the 2023-24 period and that development work is initiated in these colonies.

Furthermore, Khattar announced the deployment of technology-based solutions to establish 1,000 citizen facilitation centres in municipal corporations and municipal councils located in district headquarters in 2023-24 through the urban local bodies and Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran. These centres will offer technology-based citizen services and other facilities to improve the ease of living in urban areas, in addition to promoting development of environmental, social, and cultural infrastructure.
