In a strategic move towards sustainable urban development, the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) is pioneering 3D-based urban planning, emphasizing simulation and analytic studies to address challenges such as traffic congestion, infrastructure gaps, environmental concerns, and resource mismanagement. The GSUDA has issued an invitation for expressions of interest from firms keen on providing the procurement, implementation, and support for a 3D application tailored for urban planning. The goal is to leverage the 3DCity Platform, fostering comprehensive scenario analyses and simulation studies before translating plans into reality. As the State is facing a spectrum of challenges, it aims to emerge as a beacon of sustainable development, efficient resource management, and innovation. Seeking technology seamlessly integrated into the urban landscape, the GSUDA envisions the 3DCity Platform as a catalyst for smarter and sustainable futures. The 3DCity Platform is designed to navigate diverse planning scenarios, encompassing green energy potential, traffic congestion mitigation through bridges/flyovers, green coverage planning, new township development, infrastructure expansion, optimal locations for advertisement boards, security enhancement with CCTV, and encroachment assessment. Beyond traditional urban planning aspects, the platform will be instrumental in navigation representation, government property encroachment assessment, estimation of solar power potential, and infrastructure asset management. A GSUDA official highlighted the platform's role in conducting assessments related to air quality, flood levels, sound pollution, and security coverage based on CCTV insights. By embracing this innovative approach, the Goa government aspires to proactively manage challenges, laying the foundation for a sustainable and efficient urban landscape. The 3D-based urban planning initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating a model for responsible development, reinforcing Goa's commitment to environmental stewardship, technological integration, and forward-thinking urban governance.
