Earlier this month, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed that more than 55 lakh underprivileged individuals in Uttar Pradesh have been provided with free housing facilities under state and central government initiatives during his tenure. Serving as the Chief Minister since March 2017, Adityanath made these remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 116 development projects, collectively valued at Rs 175 crore, at the Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Gorakhpur. The Chief Minister emphasized the commitment of development authorities and the housing development council to create housing schemes with essential amenities, aligning with the goal of improving the quality of life. Speaking to the gathered audience, Adityanath stressed the correlation between a flourishing economy, rich cultural heritage, and an increase in per capita income, contributing to the fulfilment of basic needs and overall prosperity. He highlighted the advantages of purchasing houses from government-approved development authorities and housing development councils, ensuring access to better facilities such as schools, parks, street lights, drinking water, and healthcare. Adityanath proudly stated, "Over 55 lakh poor families in the state who did not have any shelter have become millionaires, with these houses valued at a minimum of Rs 10 lakh each." He specifically referenced the success of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana in achieving this milestone. The Chief Minister also mentioned the provision of toilet facilities to three crore families in the state. Further detailing the progress in the region, Adityanath highlighted the transformation of Gorakhpur, with the flourishing Ramgarh Tal area becoming a backdrop for film shoots, AlIMS providing services, the revival of a fertilizer factory, operational sugar mills in Pipraich, and the development of BRD Medical College into a top-notch institution. He also announced upcoming initiatives, including the development of New Gorakhpur with an approved budget of Rs 6,000 crore, providing excellent housing facilities for journalists, advocates, teachers, doctors, businessmen, artists, and the poor. In addition, the Chief Minister revealed plans to introduce cruises in Ramgarh Tal, expanding possibilities for water sports and expressing the intention to offer facilities comparable to those in Mumbai and Chennai in the area. Adityanath assured those who have been deprived of housing schemes that their dream of owning a house in Gorakhpur would soon become a reality.
