Gurugram residents receives HSVP notices demanding Rs 409 crore in 30 days

The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has stirred controversy by issuing recovery notices to 150 property owners in Sector 110A, demanding a total "enhancement amount" of Rs 409 crore. Residents are now facing the ultimatum of paying between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 crore within 30 days or risk incurring penalties in the form of interest on the recovery amount. This development stems from the demolition of hundreds of houses in New Palam Vihar by HSVP in 2015 for the construction of the Dwarka Expressway. In compensation, affected families were allocated alternative plots in Sector 110A in 2017, based on the size of their original plots in New Palam Vihar. The issuance of recovery notices, as revealed by an HSVP official, follows a recent order by the Punjab and Haryana high court, directing the authority to provide enhanced compensation to landowners whose properties were acquired throughout the state. Over a decade ago, HSVP acquired 36.5 acres of land for the development of Sector 110A through land pooling, where farmers whose land was acquired were given plots in the same sector. Approximately 150 individuals from New Palam Vihar, who had received alternative plots, are now grappling with the unexpected recovery notices.
