Vaishnavi Group, a prominent real estate developer, has expanded its collaboration with Manipal Hospitals, India’s leading multi-speciality hospital chain, unveiling plans for a state-of-the-art built-to-suit hospital in South Bengaluru. This move is driven by a surging demand for high-quality medical infrastructure to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Indian population. Spanning a sprawling 3.3 lakh square feet, the proposed Vaishnavi Sushrutha hospital is designed as a world-class tertiary care facility, featuring 250 beds for a comprehensive range of curative and preventive healthcare services. Named in homage to the legendary Indian surgeon Sushrutha, hailed as the 'Father of Surgery,' the project is strategically located on Kanakapura Main Road. Construction started in March 2022 and is slated for completion by December 2024, positioning it as one of the city's most advanced hospitals. Darshan Govindaraju, Director at Vaishnavi Group, underscores the evolution of medical and wellness industry needs, particularly accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Manipal Hospitals' spokesperson expresses their commitment to improving public health through pioneering medical interventions. The significance of this endeavour aligns with a report by CBRE, indicating that India will require an additional 1.3 billion square feet of healthcare space by 2030. Meeting this demand entails the need for 2.9 million more hospital beds to achieve the global average of 3.2 beds per 1,000 persons. This assumes significance as India emerges as a favoured destination for medical tourists, coupled with a robust demand for private healthcare providers in both urban and rural centres. The health sector's trajectory toward preventive healthcare and wellness further propels its anticipated growth.
