Pronit Prem Nath and his wife Amisha, who own a real estate firm, have been accused of defrauding actor Karishma Tanna's husband, Varun Bangera, and television host Samir Kochhar of Rs 1.03 crore. The Andheri police filed an FIR against the couple under sections 409, 420, and 120B of the IPC, including criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. The complainant, Samir Kochhar, along with his wife and Varun Bangera, sought to purchase property in December 2020. They came across Nath and his wife, who were planning to build a four-storey building in Pali Village, Bandra. After visiting the property site and learning about the project, Kochhar decided to buy a unit for Rs 1.95 crore, and Bangera opted for another for Rs 90 lakh. According to the FIR, the Kochhar’s paid Rs 58.55 lakh, while Bangera paid Rs 44.66 lakh to Nath and Amisha, totaling Rs 1.03 crore. However, Nath allegedly failed to disclose the existence of a bank loan on the property. When confronted, Nath assured them that they would receive their flats as promised without any financial liability. In June 2022, Nath informed Kochhar’s and Bangera that they would get their flats within three months. However, on June 23, 2023, Nath reneged on the deal, stating he no longer wished to sell them the flats. Kochhar claimed that Nath had used their money to repay loans and for personal gain, taking advantage of improved conditions and increased real estate prices post-pandemic. Unable to secure their flats, Kochhar’s and Bangera approached the High Court, discovering that Nath had allegedly sold the flats to a third party in February 2023. Subsequently, they filed a police complaint. Kochhar's lawyer, Prerak Chaudhary revealed that Nath had entered into a sale agreement with both Kochhar’s and another individual. Despite legal actions taken by Kochhars to enforce the contract, Nath attempted to create third-party rights. The High Court granted injunctive relief to Kochhar’s, restricting Nath from such actions. Nath's appeal against the order was dismissed by the chief justice's court. The accused couple is facing legal repercussions for allegedly using the complainants' money for personal gain, reneging on property deals, and attempting to sell the same property to a third party, leading to legal battles in both the police complaint and the High Court.
