MahaRERA appoints former district judge Mr. Ravindra Padmakar Rao Deshpande as its new judicial member

Mr. Ravindra Padmakarrao Deshpande, the former district judge of Bhoom, Osmanabad has been appointed as the judicial member of MahaRERA. He recently took the oath of office and secrecy from MahaRERA Chairman, Mr. Ajoy Mehta. Subsequently, he assumed the responsibilities of his new role. The occasion saw the presence of MahaRERA member Mr. Mahesh Pathak, Secretary Dr. Vasant Prabhu, senior officer Mr. Mohan Rao and Vasant Vani. The Maharashtra government, through a government decision, made this appointment. Mr. Deshpande, a resident of Ambajogai in Marathwada, holds a B.Com degree from Ambajogai and an LL.B. from Ch. Sambhaji Nagar. Beginning his career in 1995 as a civil judge, junior division, and judicial magistrate in Osmanabad, he later served in various capacities, including principal judge in Yavatmal, chief judicial magistrate at the small causes court in Mumbai, additional chief judicial magistrate, and district judge-2 in Bhoom, Osmanabad. He retired in March last year after a successful career. MahaRERA operates with an administrative structure where the Chairman is assisted by two members – one administrative and the other judicial. The judicial member’s post was vacant and hence this appointment is considered timely and appropriate for MahaRERA to function at full capacity, with greater judicial insight.
