Arvind Kejriwal unveils revolutionary recycling plant to tackle Delhi's debris dilemma

Delhi faces a monumental challenge in handling a staggering 6,500 tonnes of construction debris daily. However, recent progress in waste management offers a glimmer of hope. Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, recently unveiled India's largest construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling facility, operated by EverEnviro Resource Management Pvt Ltd.
This state-of-the-art plant has the capacity to process a remarkable 2,000 tonnes of C&D waste daily, making it a game-changer in Delhi's waste management landscape. Encompassing a vast 7-acre area, this facility holds the potential to significantly address the region's mounting waste issues.
EverEnviro's cutting-edge plant efficiently gathers and transports construction debris for processing, subsequently transforming the reclaimed materials into high-quality recycled aggregates, bricks, pavers, and tiles. This process not only augments circularity in the construction sector but also reduces the demand for natural resources, mitigating the environmental impact associated with their extraction and processing.
Delhi is already home to four similar plants, located in Jahangirpuri, Rani Khera, Shastri Park, and Bakkarwala, with a combined capacity to recycle 5,000 tonnes of debris daily. Moreover, the government is in the process of constructing a new facility in Okhla, designed to process 1,000 tonnes, alongside planned upgrades to existing facilities. Notably, the Jahangirpuri plant operates with advanced European technology, ensuring near-silent operations that align seamlessly with Delhi's sustainability goals.
Kejriwal emphasized the issue of debris left on roads and empty plots after building demolitions, leading to unsightly litter piles in Delhi. He expressed his aspiration to transform Delhi into a pristine and aesthetically pleasing city, highlighting the critical role of facilities like construction and demolition plants in achieving this vision.
Delhi's air quality, plagued by pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from particulate matter due to construction debris, may find relief in EverEnviro's recycling plant. By significantly reducing pollution, this development promises relief from chronic respiratory illnesses.
