Survey of India and Arunachal Pradesh join hands for SVAMITVA scheme implementation

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj introduced the SVAMITVA scheme in April 2021, with a primary goal of confirming property ownership in rural zones. This initiative seeks to map out land plots using drone technology, subsequently granting property owners their rightful 'Record of Rights'.
Union Minister Kapil Moreshwar Patil recently announced an impending collaboration between the Survey of India and the Arunachal Pradesh government to execute the SVAMITVA scheme's objectives. Addressing the media, Patil, who serves as the Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, revealed that the Survey of India would spearhead the task of mapping and subsequently creating a comprehensive spatial database of Arunachal's rural territories.
Additionally, Patil reviewed the status of various central schemes underway in the state, all under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. He also touched upon the Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM).
Setting a timeline, the minister shared that in forthcoming five years, the Survey of India is committed to delivering property cards to Arunachal's residents. Commending the state's progress in central scheme executions, he particularly appreciated the successful rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Of the 36,000 housing targets set, 22,000 have been successfully constructed, he noted, reassuring that the remaining 14,000 would see completion once the central funds are disbursed. The Centre, he disclosed, has already allocated over Rs 300 crore for PMAY to Arunachal Pradesh via the 15th Finance Commission.
Highlighting the success of the ArSRLM, Patil recommended the Arunachal government to empower women's self-help groups (SHGs) to venture into turmeric and kiwi cultivation. He attributed the significant rise in SHG participation to the Narendra Modi administration. Since 2014, the number of women in SHGs has catapulted from 2 crore to a staggering 8 crore.
In conclusion, the impending collaboration between the Survey of India and the Arunachal Pradesh government is a testament to the central government's dedication to ensuring clear land ownership in rural India. As schemes like SVAMITVA and PMAY gain momentum, the rural landscape of Arunachal Pradesh is set for transformative development.
