At around 10:30am on Monday, in sunny Sardinia, real estate heavy weight Vikas Oberoi and his wife Gayatri Oberoi met with a horrific road accident that took the lives of two individuals and left four injured. Vikas Oberoi was driving a blue rented Lamborgini (Huracan Spider). While trying to overtake a white camper van, his car was hit by a red Ferrari Portofino M being driven by Markus Krautli, with his wife Melissa Krautli in the passenger seat. The collusion resulted in Vikas Oberoi’s car hitting the campervan which turned over due to the impact. The Ferrari overturned on colliding and subsequently burst into flames. The accident took place near San Giovanni Suergiu on Highway 195.
The Kraultis and Oberois were said to be participating in a widely advertised ‘Sardinia Supercar Experience’. According to Italian publication Agenzia Italia, the event was spread across 6 days where participants would drive across the island in Ferraris and Lamorginis, visit viewpoints and stay overnight in luxury hotels. The event began in Teulada on Monday and the next stop was supposed to be on the coast of Iglesias where the rally participants were scheduled to break for lunch before moving on to Masua and then Mores for the night. The trip allegedly costs approximately 12,000 euros for individuals with their own cars and can go up to 25,000 euros for those who wish to rent a car.
