Co-Creator of 'Friends,' Marta Kauffman, snags $23.6 million Malibu oceanfront residence

Marta Kauffman, renowned for co-creating "Friends," recently acquired a $23.6 million oceanfront residence on Malibu's sought-after Broad Beach. The property, boasting a basketball court and guesthouse, spans almost 1 acre—a rare find in this area. What enhances this deal is its proximity to a $16 million house she's owned since 2006. Combining the two, Kauffman now enjoys nearly 1.3 acres and over 7,000 square feet of living space along one of Malibu's premier beaches.
Mark Attanasio, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, recently sold the property to Marta Kauffman. Attanasio had initially purchased the double lot over two transactions, spending around $6.4 million more than 20 years ago. Subsequently, he invested significantly in enhancements, remodeling the main Cape Cod-style house and adding features like the basketball court. Earlier this year, he listed the property for almost $25 million before Kauffman's acquisition.
Previously, this enclosed and secured property was available for beachfront rental, commanding rates as high as $150,000 per month. An especially distinctive aspect of the property is the one-bedroom guesthouse, situated directly beneath the detached two-car garage, complete with its own bathroom and laundry room.
Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of "Grace and Frankie" on Netflix, now possesses one of the most remarkable properties on Broad Beach. With her original residence adjacent to the new one, the 67-year-old now owns two oceanfront homes, two separate guesthouses, and garage space for five cars. At the heart of the compound sits a sports court, providing a scenic spot for some of her fortunate "Friends" to shoot hoops while enjoying the sunset over the ocean waves.
