MHADA Pune lottery sees over 32,000 affordable home applications, extends deadline

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in Pune has made a significant announcement, extending the deadline for applications for the 2023 MHADA lottery. This lottery represents an enticing opportunity for individuals to acquire one of more than 5,863 affordable homes. The Pune board of MHADA initially unveiled this lottery offering on September 6, encompassing homes located in the regions of Pune, Solapur, Sangli, and Kolhapur. Remarkably, MHADA has been inundated with a staggering 32,000 applications in response to this enticing proposition.
Of the 5,863 homes in contention, a substantial subset of 2,445 will be allotted to fortunate individuals on a first-come, first-served basis. These residential units span a diverse spectrum of prices, ranging from a modest Rs 5 lakh to a considerably substantial Rs 1.11 crore. In light of the evolving circumstances, MHADA has made the prudent decision to extend the application deadline, now allowing registered applicants to submit their applications as of October 20, 2023. The keenly anticipated revelation of the lottery results is scheduled for November 9, a date that will make changes in the lives of the lucky winners.
The homes on offer in this lottery exhibit remarkable diversity in terms of size and configuration. The more diminutive abodes boast a carpet area of 204 square feet, while the more expansive dwellings offer a generous 1,087 square feet. The available configurations encompass the gamut, spanning from the compact 1 RK to the spacious 3 BHK. The mechanics of the lottery will be executed with utmost transparency and efficiency, utilizing the state-of-the-art Integrated Housing Lottery Management System (IHLMS) 2.0. This system mirrors the process employed in the MHADA Mumbai lottery of 2023, ensuring a fair and equitable distribution of these sought-after residences.
Noteworthy among the offerings is the most opulent unit within this lottery—an impressive 3 BHK apartment situated in the coveted Sant Tukaram Nagar area of Pimpri, Pune district. This palatial residence commands a princely sum of Rs 1.11 crore and boasts a lavish carpet area spanning approximately 882 square feet, as officially recorded by MHADA. In stark contrast, the most economically priced unit, at a modest Rs 5 lakh, features a compact carpet area of 312 square feet and is charmingly located in the picturesque town of Kagal in Kolhapur district. The lion's share of these coveted residences, numbering an impressive 5,425, is nestled within Pune district, while Solapur district offers 69, Sangli district provides 32, and Kolhapur district contributes 337.
It is important to note that out of the grand total of 5,863 apartments vying for attention in this lottery, 430 falls under the aegis of the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY) scheme, while 2,445 residences will be allocated through the equitable mechanism of first-come, first-served selection within Pune district. In January 2023, MHADA previously declared its unveiling of a lottery, promising 5,990 homes in Pune. Of these, 2,908 residences were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, while the Pune board of MHADA administered the larger lottery for the remaining properties.
