The Uttarakhand Chief Minister hands out cheques to PMAY-Rural recipients

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami orchestrated a special event that showcased his commitment to improving the lives of the people in his state. He distributed approval letters and keys to new homes, a momentous gesture that brought smiles to the faces of many. As an additional gesture of support, he provided Rs 5,000 to individuals participating in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural program. This financial assistance was intended to enable them to purchase essential household items like pots and pans for their new residences. During this heart-warming event, Dhami handed over these essential items to 11 beneficiaries, with a majority being women, all within the confines of his official residence.

In a broader effort to uplift the community, 25 self-help groups (SHGs) affiliated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission were also recipients of financial aid during the ceremony. Some SHGs received a substantial sum of Rs 75,000 each, earmarked as an investment fund to bolster their community initiatives. Others were granted Rs 10,000 each as a revolving fund, providing them with the financial means to further their economic activities. Additionally, 10 SHGs were bestowed varying amounts of financial support, ranging from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, as detailed in an official statement.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed his admiration for the ongoing efforts to empower the marginalized and underserved populations in the country, noting that this transformational change is occurring at an unprecedented scale. He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for bestowing the gift of permanent homes upon the citizens of his state, a gesture that resonates deeply with their aspirations for a better life.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) stands as a beacon of hope and transformation in the realm of housing. Launched by the Government of India, this flagship initiative aspires to provide affordable housing to all citizens by the year 2022. PMAY's overarching objective is to address the housing needs of economically disadvantaged sections of society, encompassing both urban and rural areas. The program offers financial assistance and subsidies to eligible beneficiaries, easing their path to constructing or purchasing a home. Its multifaceted approach includes components tailored to urban areas, such as the Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), and rural regions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).

Since its inception, PMAY has made significant strides in enhancing housing conditions and ensuring shelter for millions of Indians, contributing substantially to the nation's overarching goals of inclusive development and poverty alleviation.
