In Hyderabad, tragedy struck as a scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Addagutta, KPHB Colony, resulting in the loss of three migrant construction workers, two of whom were women, while two others sustained injuries. The incident occurred during construction activities on an alleged unauthorized floor of the multi-story building. According to KPHB police, the workers who tragically lost their lives hailed from Malkangiri district in Odisha.

Last Thursday morning, at approximately 7 am, the laborers arrived at the construction site and began their work. Around 8:30 am, they ascended the scaffolding to work on the building's sixth floor. Unexpectedly, the scaffolding gave way, causing five workers - Santhu Badnayak, Soniya Challan, Balaram Badnayak, Soniya Badnayak, and Budha Badnayak - to plummet from a height exceeding 60 feet.

Santhu Badnayak, aged 23, and Soniya Challan, aged 19, tragically lost their lives instantly, while Soniya Badnayak, aged 18, succumbed to her injuries during medical treatment. Among the remaining two workers, Balaram Badnayak (18) and Budha Badnayak (20), they survived the fall but sustained severe injuries. They were swiftly taken to a private hospital for medical attention.

The police and personnel from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) successfully extracted the trapped workers by clearing away the remaining scaffolding and debris. According to KPHB police, they have not yet determined the building's owner to assign responsibility. KPHB Inspector D Venkatesh stated that once we ascertain the responsible party, appropriate accountability measures will be taken.
