The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is charting its path into the future with the ambitious Master Plan 2041. This strategic blueprint envisions a transformation of the region, harnessing its proximity to the Noida International Airport to cultivate a thriving commercial hub. Currently, 25.4% of the vast 40,000-hectare Phase 2 area earmarked for development is designated for industrial use, but the state government is eager to augment this allocation, propelling economic growth and innovation.
This monumental undertaking received preliminary approval from the GNIDA Board on August 12, marking a significant milestone. However, the journey towards full authorization remains, pending crucial discussions with stakeholders and the solicitation of public opinions. The GNIDA CEO, Ravi Kumar NG, emphasizes the importance of collaboration with various departments. The irrigation department, for instance, will provide valuable information about canals and drains within the master plan area, ensuring efficient water management. Insights from the forest department regarding wetlands and greenery, as well as input from the district administration regarding ponds and lakes, are equally essential to ensure the seamless execution of the plan.
The Master Plan 2041 has been a long time in the making, with considerations dating back to 2007. However, progress has been hampered by delays, prompting the need for swift action to curb rampant illegal construction activities in the area. Warehouses, shops, schools, and colonies have sprouted without proper planning and oversight, underscoring the urgency of implementing this master plan.
A pivotal element of Master Plan 2041 is the promotion of mixed land use in areas proximate to the under-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar, falling under the jurisdiction of the Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEIDA). The vision is to establish Greater Noida as the premier destination seamlessly connected to the airport. To realize this vision, the proposal includes the extension of a 130-meter-wide road originating from Greater Noida West and extending it by 8 kilometers up to Adauda village under YEIDA.
These expanded roads are envisioned to serve as vibrant hubs for the hospitality sector, commercial establishments, and a myriad of recreational activities. Connectivity with transit corridors will be a crucial aspect of this development, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.
In addition to enhancing transportation infrastructure, Master Plan 2041 advocates for the integration of various public transportation modes. This includes Mass Rapid Transit Systems (MRTS), non-motorized transport options, cycle tracks, and pedestrian pathways. This holistic approach to mobility aims to reduce congestion, promote sustainable transportation, and improve the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The plan also recognizes the importance of environmental preservation and enhancing the region's natural beauty. To this end, it emphasizes the development of a waterfront along the Upper Ganga Canal, creating a scenic and recreational space for the community. Moreover, the inclusion of green corridors in areas like NTPC Dadri and the Noorpur catchment underscores the commitment to ecological sustainability.
