Hyderabad grants 11,700 residents new 2BHK homes under government scheme

In a recent drive to promote affordable housing, the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) allocated 11,700 two-bedroom housing units to deserving beneficiaries across all constituencies in Hyderabad recently. This move comes in response to a staggering 7 lakh applications received for the 2BHK houses since the government unveiled the initiative.

Each of these housing units is estimated to cost between Rs. 50 and Rs. 60 lakh, and they are a testament to the Telangana government's commitment to ensuring decent housing for its citizens. The scheme, designed to cater to the rising demand for affordable housing in the city, selected beneficiaries through a transparent draw of lots online, where 500 candidates were chosen from every assembly constituency.

Although MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao was scheduled to inaugurate the scheme in Quthbullapur and distribute keys to 1,700 fortunate recipients, an overseas commitment kept him away from the event. Stepping in for him, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, supported by local MLAs of Quthbullapur and Kukatpally, proudly initiated the ceremony. Yadav emphasized the transparency of the allotment process and assured those who missed out in this phase that they would be considered in the next.

In a show of collective effort and support, Health Minister Harish Rao presented housing certificates to another 3,500 beneficiaries in Kollur, located in the Patancheru constituency. Meanwhile, Lasya Nandita, the daughter of the late MLA G Sayanna, marked her presence at the Bahadurpally launch in Secunderabad Cantonment.

Other notable attendees of the day included GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty, and GHMC Commissioner D Ronald Rose. They, along with a suite of ministers, handed over the keys to the new homeowners. Throughout the event, there was recurrent acknowledgment of the various welfare schemes the Telangana government has been implementing for the betterment of its people.

In conclusion, the distribution of 2BHK homes by the GHMC underlines the Telangana government's push towards affordable housing and improved quality of life for its residents. As beneficiaries start a new chapter in their homes, the anticipation grows for the subsequent phases of this promising initiative.
