Taking a significant step forward, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has assigned a tender to develop the infrastructure of a new township called "Aerotropolis." This project aims to create a modern and well-planned living area. The task, expected to cost around Rs 195 crores, is set to be completed by April 2025, as confirmed by GMADA's chief administrator, Rajiv Gupta.
The development authority, GMADA, plans to build the Aerotropolis project across approximately 5,500 acres of land. The work will be carried out in different phases. In the initial phase, grid roads will be constructed across around 1,650 acres. Following this, the focus will shift to developing internal roads within this area. The purpose of this development is to create spaces for residential, commercial, and institutional use, according to the chief administrator.
Delving into the details of the assigned task, Rajiv Gupta revealed that the company M/s SBEIPL-HRG (JV) has been chosen to handle the work. The company's responsibility will be to develop the grid roads in different sections of the project. Completing this task is crucial, as it will give the project its shape and open doors for further construction activities within it. Gupta noted that this is a combined effort involving various aspects, including civil work, public health, and electrical services. The contractor is required to lay down all these services simultaneously to ensure the project's planned development.
Rajiv Gupta emphasized the significance of Aerotropolis, labelling it as a prestigious project for the development authority. He highlighted that the project aims to offer a modern and luxurious living environment, designed with nature-friendliness in mind. One of the project's distinct advantages is its strategic location close to the international airport and adjacent to the well-established Aero City & IT City townships of GMADA. This strategic position makes Aerotropolis an attractive and sought-after destination for the future, according to the chief administrator.
